Paradise On the Other Side Of Kootenay Lake- Crawford Bay RV Park

I usually do not care for RV parks, but seeing as it was getting late on a Friday, we had struck out at several other campgrounds and a wrong turn took us to the Kootenay Lake Ferry, I was willing to stay anywhere but the side of the road!

As we waited for the Ferry, I did some phoning around and found Crawford Bay RV Park. The woman on the phone warned me they were quite busy with a small family reunion and the spot they had left was not the greatest.

After I explained to her we were waiting for the ferry and just needed a place for one night, she told me they would be waiting for us when we got there!

We pulled in and she quickly discussed with her husband which of the two spots left would be best for our family and her husband helped my husband back in while I was in the office paying!

They were such a nice couple and when our kids begged us to stay the next day, they said we could stay a second night no problem. I was very impressed by their customer service!

The sunset the first night was stunning

The views were amazing! We had a little bit of rain, but otherwise we had clear blue skies and gorgeous sunsets! I was pleasantly surprised that every site has grass instead of gravel and the sunsets were the best I have seen in a long time.

One of the views from our site

We set up fairly quickly and although the spots are wide open, our neighbours were very friendly and even gave my husband some tips on the best golf courses in the area!

As soon as we set up our daughter started painting

Crawford Bay had the cleanest bathrooms and showers that I have ever seen in an RV park! I was really impressed. The showers are free which you also do not see often, and the coin laundry is $3.00 per load which is not bad either.

Bathroom was always clean
Showers were also very clean

When we arrived we were warned that a group of campers planned to set off fireworks at 10pm, so we made sure we were facing the right direction and enjoyed a free fireworks show on our first night too which was a nice bonus after a long day on the road.

Firework Show was Amazing

The views were amazing here and we were lucky enough to watch the full moon rise for the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse with a clear view on our second night.

I love this view!

This campground had a very friendly vibe, they sold ice and firewood for very reasonable prices and they even have a little ice cream shop on site! They also have a large playground that our daughter thoroughly enjoyed, and a dunk tank!!! How fun is that? It was closed while we were there but I can just picture how much fun is made every summer with families dunking each other!

They had a couple of small cabins with their own picnic table and fire pit right outside, as well as a few permanent trailers with a nice wooden deck and picnic table outside that people can also rent.

The owners have done an amazing job of turning this little RV Park into a real paradise. Views of the mountains in every direction you look, gorgeous sunsets and watching the moon rise from behind the mountain while we sat at the fire was one of the most relaxing parts of the vacation.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if we ever find ourselves crossing Kootenay Lake again, we will be sure to stop back at the Crawford Bay RV park for another night- or two!

Thank you for reading and I hope if you are traveling through the Kootenays you stop in at this beautiful spot!
